I'll start off with an image, Here You can use the same one, or one of your own, doesn't matter. Create a new layer, you don't have to name it, and fill it in with a colour of your choice...I picked a goldenish colour, and the opacity was 65%. I filled it in twice. Once again, opacity doesn't matter, play around with it to find out what you like.

Then, you just play around with the layer settings and opacity. I had Hard Light, and 45% Opacity. And below is my final product.

I also played around with different colours, to show you that it's possible in any shade.
